Exporting Tax Preparations to Ultratax - Step By Step Guide

This article will walk you through everything you need to know when exporting tax preparations to Ultratax.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

The UltraTax <> Juno integration works by entering the data that Juno has extracted, directly into Ultratax via your computer. You will see the automation run 100% live, making clicks with your mouse and typing with your keyboard.

To do this, there are a few things to know and set up before hand to ensure a smooth process.

Important Note for Free Trial Users:

Prior to exporting to your Ultratax instance, you'll need to complete your free trial period. Once your trial ends, a member of our team will:

  • Share the integration app download link with you

  • Guide you step-by-step through connecting your tax software

  • Ensure you’re fully set up and ready to start using Juno

Step by Step Instructions:

Step 1: Setup required settings in Ultratax

Open the Ultratax Source Data Entry application by clicking "Utilities" in the top left of the page:

Then, select "Ultratax CS Source Data Entry" from the dropdown which will open the source data entry application as seen below:

Then, in the top left of the Source Data Entry application, select "Setup" then "User Preferences so you see this popup:

For the Juno <> Ultratax integration to work properly, ensure that everything under "Other" is unchecked, and you have selected "Use Payer's name only" under "Form 1099-B description."

Step 2: Running the Ultratax Export

Click here for a video explanation, the same steps are explained below.

When exporting data to a client in Ultratax, you must first open the Ultratax application and open up the tax return that you wish to have the data imported into BEFORE running the Ultratax export. Additionally, you must also open the Ultratax CS Source Data Entry application by following the steps above. Your Ultratax app should look similar to this:

And this for the source data entry:

Then, open the Juno application, select the client you want to export. If you haven't downloaded the Juno Desktop app please visit our How to Connect Ultratax to Juno article.

Ensure the documents you want to export are added. By default, Juno will skip documents that have been previously exported.

Once everything is set and Juno and Ultratax are in the same window (explanation on why this is needed here), click "Export to Ultratax."

Upon doing so Juno will ask you to enter the Social Security number of the client you wish to push data into. It is important to note, Juno does not store your client's social security numbers at any point. SSN is purely used to map the data to the desired client.

Now let Juno enter your data for you! Be sure not to type, move your mouse, or do anything on your computer during this time. Juno is very quick, typing in an average of 15 forms every 3 minutes.

Once the export is complete the Juno application will indicate that the export is complete. You can now view all the imported data in Ultratax.
